"Tithing is just an Old Testament law that doesn't apply to Christians anymore."
How it sounds in your head: My friend says tithing was just for Israel and we're under grace now, so we don't have to give at all. That would solve so many problems if it's true. But then why does the church keep talking about it?
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it."
-- Malachi 3:10Source: enemy twisting freedom INTO selfishness, making grace an excuse for withholding instead of abundance for overflow.
Technically, tithing IS mentioned in Levitical law, and we ARE under grace not law. The logic seems solid and removes financial pressure completely.
Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of EVERYTHING—this was BEFORE the law was even given, purely out of honor and worship. Immediately after, God appeared and said 'I am your shield, your EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD.'
I REFUSE the lie that grace means withholding instead of overflow. IT IS WRITTEN that God invites me to test Him in giving and He will open heaven's windows with blessing I cannot contain. I am not under law but under the BARAK blessing of Abraham, which flows through generosity, not scarcity. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse so Abraham's blessing is MINE. I am a conduit, not a dam. My Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and as His daughter, I give from abundance, not obligation. The blessing follows me because I'm IN CHRIST, and generosity is the natural fruit of abiding in the Vine.
The Father isn't demanding your tithe like a bill collector—He's inviting you into a SUPERNATURAL TESTING where He gets to show off His provision over your life. Like the prodigal, you're not earning the party through giving; you're celebrating SONSHIP through overflow.
