"This loss proves I'm not as smart or capable as I thought I was."
How it sounds in your head: You thought you were financially savvy. You thought you understood markets. Turns out you're average at best, stupid at worst. That confidence you had? It was arrogance. This is reality checking your ego.
"Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the LORD."
-- Jeremiah 9:23-24Identity based on performance and intelligence. When performance fails, identity crumbles. World says your worth equals your net worth and your IQ.
The loss is objective proof that your assessment of your abilities was inflated. The gap between what you thought you knew and what you actually knew cost you real money.
Gideon called himself the least in the weakest clan in Israel, hiding in a winepress threshing wheat in fear. God called him 'mighty warrior' and used him to defeat entire armies with 300 men and trumpets—zero credentials required.
I REFUSE the lie that financial loss proves I'm not smart or capable enough. IT IS WRITTEN in Jeremiah 9:23-24 that I don't glory in wisdom or might—I glory in KNOWING Him who exercises lovingkindness. Moses couldn't speak and led nations. Gideon was weakest and won wars. IT IS WRITTEN that God chose the foolish things to shame the wise—my identity isn't in market savvy, it's in being IN CHRIST. I am the righteousness of God in Him, not because of my IQ or portfolio performance. The Father who used stuttering Moses and frightened Gideon doesn't require impressive credentials. I have the mind of Christ, and my worth is settled.
The Father isn't grading your financial intelligence or calculating your net worth to determine your value. He chose you before you had a single credential or success, and market losses don't change His assessment of you by even a fraction.
