"Their life looks blessed and mine looks cursed—God must be angry with me."
How it sounds in your head: You watch them win while you lose, succeed while you fail, thrive while you survive. It feels like cosmic unfairness. Maybe you sinned too much. Maybe God is punishing you.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Old Covenant thinking makes circumstances appear as divine judgment rather than seeing ALL punishment already taken at the cross.
The contrast is visible and measurable—their wins versus your losses stacked up like evidence of divine displeasure.
Mephibosheth was crippled, hiding, from a fallen royal line, expecting death. David SOUGHT him out, restored ALL his grandfather's land, gave him permanent place at the king's table—INSTANT restoration, zero qualification required.
I REFUSE the lie that my circumstances prove God's anger. IT IS WRITTEN that He has forgiven me ALL trespasses and nailed every requirement to the cross. Jesus took my punishment—ALL of it. IT IS WRITTEN: There is NOW no condemnation to those in Christ. God is not mad at me. David sought Mephibosheth to BLESS him, not punish him—that's the Father's heart. Christ redeemed me from the CURSE so I could receive the BLESSING. I am Abraham's seed, heir by promise. The BARAK protected liars, deceivers, murderers—how much more does it protect me IN CHRIST? My circumstances don't define God's disposition—the CROSS does.
The Father isn't withholding blessing as punishment. He's running toward you with the robe and ring, having already poured ALL wrath on Jesus so He could pour ALL blessing on you.
