"The love is dead and you can't resurrect feelings that are gone."
How it sounds in your head: You feel nothing when you look at him. The butterflies are gone, the attraction is gone, even basic affection feels forced. You can't manufacture feelings that have died, and pretending only makes you feel like a fraud. Love can't be commanded back into existence.
"The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.'"
-- Jeremiah 31:3World defines love as feeling instead of covenant decision, making emotions master.
Your body doesn't respond like it used to, your heart doesn't race, you feel numb or even repelled. Years of disappointment have extinguished the spark and you can't fake what you don't feel.
Jacob worked 7 years for Rachel and they 'seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her.' Then he was tricked into marrying Leah instead. Yet covenant made him work another 7 years—14 YEARS of labor sustained by covenant love that transcended circumstances and feelings. His love wasn't feeling-based but covenant-based.
I REFUSE the lie that dead feelings mean dead love. IT IS WRITTEN that God loves with EVERLASTING love—not feeling-based but covenant-based. My emotions are not the authority over my marriage; God's Word is. IT IS WRITTEN that love is patient, kind, keeps no record of wrongs—it's ACTION, not emotion. I am a branch connected to the Vine of LOVE Himself; feelings will flow from abiding, not from striving. The BARAK blessing sustained covenant through decades without feelings—Abraham with Hagar, Jacob with Leah. God is breathing resurrection life into my emotions RIGHT NOW as I choose covenant over feelings.
The Father isn't waiting for you to manufacture feelings—He's pouring out His supernatural love through you as you simply abide. The prodigal's father didn't wait to FEEL like celebrating; he DECIDED to celebrate and feelings followed. Your obedience opens the floodgates.
