"The good Christian men are all taken; only broken ones are left"
How it sounds in your head: I look around church and see the same unavailable men week after week. The ones who are single have obvious issues—commitment-phobic, emotionally immature, stuck on ex-wives, or just plain weird. All the healthy ones got married in their twenties. I either stay alone or choose from damaged goods. The pool isn't just small; it's shallow and filled with people who can't do relationship well. Maybe that's why I'm still here too.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Enemy uses scarcity lie and assigns 'leftover' status to both you and potential partners, creating despair disguised as realism.
You've attended singles events that feel like support groups for the relationally wounded. Online dating shows you the same problematic profiles. Friends marry solid men while you encounter flakes and projects. The statistical and experiential evidence seems overwhelming. You start wondering if you're in the 'leftovers' pile yourself.
Ruth was a widowed foreigner with no prospects, gleaning in fields to survive. Boaz was a wealthy landowner with no wife mentioned—seemingly 'available' for years but not married. The text says Ruth 'happened' to glean in Boaz's field, but it was divine orchestration. In one harvest season, she went from destitute widow to wife of the wealthiest man in Bethlehem. God had been PREPARING Boaz, keeping him available for HER. The 'good ones' aren't all taken; they're being PREPARED and POSITIONED.
I REFUSE the lie that all good options are taken and I'm left choosing from brokenness. IT IS WRITTEN that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all I can ask or think—and that includes bringing the RIGHT person from places I haven't looked, circles I don't run in, or timing I haven't expected. God doesn't operate from scarcity or sort people into 'leftovers.' He CREATES connections. IT IS WRITTEN in Proverbs 18:22 that he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains FAVOR from the Lord. God has someone finding FAVOR in me and me in them. Like Ruth 'happened' into Boaz's field by divine setup, God orchestrates CONNECTIONS beyond my limited view. I walk in the BARAK blessing—blessed in relationships, blessed in timing, blessed with FAVOR. The right person isn't taken or broken; they're being PREPARED, PROTECTED, and POSITIONED for the right time. I will not settle because of perceived scarcity. I will not accept brokenness as my only option. God's ABUNDANCE doesn't run dry at my age. His perfect provision isn't limited by my social circles. The 'good one' meant for me isn't married to someone else; they're being KEPT for God's perfect timing.
The Father isn't nervously looking at the shrinking pool of options, hoping someone decent is left for you. He's the God who brought Rebekah from another country in a single day and orchestrated Ruth 'happening' into Boaz's field after years of both being single. He's not rationing from scarcity; He's PREPARING from abundance—and the right person isn't taken, broken, or nonexistent. They're being refined and positioned just like you, and when the TIME is right, God will create the connection faster than human logic says possible.
