"The church just wants my money—tithing is a manipulation tactic"
How it sounds in your head: I've seen the scandals, the prosperity preachers with private jets, the manipulation and guilt. They quote Malachi 3 to fill their coffers while widows like me scrape by. It's all about money, and I'm nobody's fool.
"So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:7Source: legitimate wounds from religious abuse mixed with cynicism that paints all giving as exploitation, demonic strategy to cut off covenant supply by discrediting the vehicle
Televangelist scandals are real, financial abuse in churches is documented, and the pattern of guilting seniors into giving is observable. The hurt from spiritual manipulation creates valid suspicion.
In EXTREME poverty and great trial, the Macedonian believers gave beyond their ability—not because Paul manipulated them, but because they FIRST gave themselves to the Lord. Their deep poverty ABOUNDED in RICHES of liberality—they BEGGED for the privilege of giving, and their cheerful generosity in lack released supernatural supply.
I REFUSE the lie that all church giving is manipulation. IT IS WRITTEN that I give as I purpose in my HEART, cheerfully, not under compulsion—and God loves that giver. Bad stewards don't cancel God's covenant promises. IT IS WRITTEN in Malachi 3:10 that GOD opens the windows—not the church, not man, but GOD HIMSELF. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing flows when I honor God with the tithe, regardless of who receives it. The Macedonians gave in EXTREME poverty and abounded in riches. I give to GOD, and HE rewards. My covenant is with HEAVEN, not with imperfect humans.
The Father doesn't withhold blessing because some messenger got it wrong—He honors YOUR heart and YOUR obedience, and releases supply based on HIS faithfulness, not church leadership's integrity. You're in covenant with a perfect God, not a perfect institution.
