"The Bible can't be true because of all the contradictions I now see."
How it sounds in your head: I never noticed before, but now the inconsistencies are everywhere. Different genealogies, varying accounts, things that don't match. If I can't trust the Book, what do I trust? Maybe it's all just ancient stories.
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
-- Isaiah 55:11Enemy + Western rationalism: Satan uses academic criticism to poison the well; modern culture demands scientific precision from ancient covenant documents.
She's encountered scholarly criticism for the first time or noticed discrepancies after decades of reading, and the enemy magnifies these into total unreliability. Her aging mind feels less able to resolve the tensions.
He was reading Isaiah without full understanding, confused about who the prophet described, yet hungry for truth. Philip explained Jesus, and the eunuch believed and was baptized immediately - transformation without resolving every question. Understanding came through encounter, not through perfect textual analysis.
I REFUSE the lie that textual questions invalidate God's living Word. IT IS WRITTEN that His Word does not return void but accomplishes what He sends it to do, and it has accomplished transformation in MY life for decades. My inability to resolve every scholarly debate doesn't undo His voice speaking to my heart through Scripture. IT IS WRITTEN that His Word is living and active - I have FELT that life, and no academic argument can erase my experience of His presence in these pages. I trust the Person more than I need perfect textual harmony. The Spirit who inspired it interprets it.
The Father isn't panicking because you found discrepancies - He knows exactly what's in the Book He inspired, and He's used it to speak to billions with varying levels of understanding. He's more interested in transforming you through His living Word than in you defending textual variants.
