"The abuse in my family line is my fault for not stopping it or speaking up sooner."
How it sounds in your head: If I had been braver, stronger, louder - maybe my daughter wouldn't have suffered. Maybe my granddaughter would be safe. I knew and I didn't do enough. I'm dying with this blood on my hands.
"Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die."
-- Ezekiel 18:4Trauma lie mixed with false responsibility for others' evil choices, weaponized by shame.
She replays every moment she suspected, every time she stayed silent, every warning sign she missed. The guilt feels like concrete evidence of culpability.
Tamar was violated by her half-brother while her father David did nothing to punish it. The silence and inaction of authority didn't make the abuse her fault or David's sin. Scripture honored her as the DESOLATE victim, not the guilty party. Evil was named evil, regardless of who stayed silent.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm responsible for abuse I didn't commit. IT IS WRITTEN that each soul bears their OWN sin. The abuser's guilt is theirs alone, not mine. I carried false shame for evil I didn't do and couldn't control. IT IS WRITTEN that the blood of Jesus cleanses from ALL sin, and I receive cleansing from this false guilt NOW. I was not the abuser - I was the one trying to survive and protect within my limited understanding. I release the weight I was never meant to carry. The abuser stands before God for THEIR choices, not mine.
The Father is whispering, 'Beloved, I saw every moment you were paralyzed by fear, every time you didn't have words or power. I never blamed you for what HE did. The blood covers your silence, your fear, your limited understanding - and I'm calling you INNOCENT of another's evil.' He's lifting the weight you carried that was never yours.
