"Sickness runs in my family, so I'm genetically predisposed to the same diseases they had."
How it sounds in your head: Your grandmother had breast cancer. Your mother has thyroid issues. Your aunt struggles with autoimmune disease. The doctors say you're at high risk because it 'runs in the family.' It's only a matter of time before you develop the same thing.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Source: Medical determinism mixed with fear, treating family medical history as prophecy instead of recognizing Christ bore sickness at the cross.
Medical professionals tell her she's genetically predisposed, offering 'preventive' treatments based on family history. When multiple relatives have the same condition, genetic causation seems scientifically undeniable.
A woman who bled for twelve years, spent everything on doctors, only got worse—medically hopeless, likely hereditary condition. One touch of Jesus' garment, and 'immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed.' No process. No medical explanation. Instant healing of what medicine couldn't fix.
I REFUSE the lie that my family's medical history determines mine. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 53:5: 'By His stripes we ARE healed.' Not 'we might be healed if we have good genetics.' ARE. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 Peter 2:24: 'By whose stripes you WERE healed.' Past tense. Finished. Jesus took my sickness the same way He took my sin—completely. The woman with the issue of blood had twelve years of medical failure and was healed IMMEDIATELY when she touched Jesus. I have continuous access to that same healing power. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham's household from the plagues that hit Egypt. I am Abraham's seed by covenant, and the same protection is mine—not because of my family's health history, but because of Christ's finished work.
The Father isn't waiting for you to overcome genetic predisposition—He ALREADY placed healing in the atonement, making it as finished as forgiveness. The moment Jesus said 'It is finished,' sickness lost its legal right to you, and your family's medical history has no authority over what Christ already purchased.
