"She's a size 4 and I'm not. Men notice her while I'm invisible. My body disqualifies me from blessing."
How it sounds in your head: She walks in and heads turn—the size, the skin, the effortless beauty you can't manufacture no matter how many workouts you miss or don't miss. You're the 'before' picture in a world that rewards 'after.' If God blessed outer beauty on her, your body must be evidence of His withholding from you.
"But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'"
-- 1 Samuel 16:7World's beauty standards merged with religious idea that physical appearance reflects God's favor; enemy weaponizes the male gaze.
The mirror doesn't lie and neither do the glances that skip over you to land on her. Forty-something bodies carry the receipts of childbearing and years, and the culture worships what you're losing.
Rahab was a prostitute in a pagan city—used by men, body commodified, the opposite of religious respectability. God not only SAVED her entire household instantly when she hid the spies, but put her in the BLOODLINE OF JESUS—Matthew 1:5 lists her by name in the genealogy of the Messiah.
I REFUSE the lie that my body size determines my blessing or visibility to God. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord does not see as man sees—He looks at my HEART, not my measurements. I am blessed in my body, blessed in my coming in and going out, blessed as the head and not the tail regardless of what size is on the tag. The BARAK blessing covered Sarah when her body was past childbearing and Leah when she was called 'weak-eyed'—it covers ME by covenant, not by comparison to her. IT IS WRITTEN: I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). This body that carried life, that serves, that walks out faithfulness is SEEN and VALUED by the Father who runs toward me with the robe, not a diet plan.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to be a size 4 before He runs toward you—He's sprinting to you NOW, robe and ring in hand, because you're His daughter and His love isn't distributed by dress size. He sees the heart the world overlooks and calls you BLESSED in the body you inhabit today.
