"Rich people are selfish and being broke keeps me humble and godly"

How it sounds in your head: Jesus said it's easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for a rich person to enter heaven. Money corrupts. Prosperity preachers are fake. Poor people are more genuine. If I get money, I'll become shallow and lose my faith. Poverty is spiritual protection.

1 Timothy 6:17

"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."

-- 1 Timothy 6:17
Enemy whispers: 'Poverty keeps you holy.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Timothy 6:17 - 'God gives us RICHLY ALL THINGS TO ENJOY.' Not 'God keeps you broke to protect you.' He gives RICHLY. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:11 that 'The Lord will grant you ABUNDANT PROSPERITY.' The issue isn't having wealth—it's trusting it instead of Him. Abraham was EXTREMELY wealthy and called God's friend. Job was richest man in the East twice. The BARAK blessing includes material abundance because God wants you to ENJOY His goodness. Poverty doesn't make you humble—it makes you poor.
Quick Truth: LIE: Poverty keeps me humble. TRUTH: God gives RICHLY all things to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17

Religious poverty spirit disguised as humility—pharisee lie rejecting blessing

Why this feels true:

He's seen rich kids at school who are arrogant and shallow. Church taught 'blessed are the poor.' Poverty feels spiritually safe compared to the danger of wealth corrupting character.

Genesis 13:2
Abraham

Abraham was 'very rich in livestock, silver, and gold'—so wealthy his herds couldn't fit in one region. Yet God called him His friend and the father of faith. His wealth didn't corrupt him; it demonstrated covenant blessing and funded his calling.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that poverty is spiritual. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives us RICHLY all things to enjoy—not sparingly, not barely enough, but RICHLY. Abundant prosperity is part of the Deuteronomy 28 blessing I inherited through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in 3 John 2 that God wishes me to prosper even as my soul prospers. The BARAK blessing made Abraham extremely wealthy and he stayed God's friend. Money doesn't corrupt covenant sons—it funds kingdom assignments. I am blessed to be a blessing. The Father is running toward me with resources to enjoy AND deploy, because He's a good Dad who loves giving good gifts.

But God actually:

The Father isn't keeping you poor to protect your character—He's preparing abundance because He delights in the prosperity of His servant (Psalm 35:27). You're the prodigal, and He's putting the ring of authority (which includes financial authority) back on your finger before you prove anything.
