"Rich people are greedy; if I get wealthy, I'll become a bad person."
How it sounds in your head: You've heard every sermon about camels and needles, rich young rulers, and loving money being evil. Getting wealthy feels spiritually dangerous, like you'd lose your soul. Better to stay poor and pure.
"The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."
-- Proverbs 10:22Source: religious teaching that demonizes wealth instead of greed, creating false correlation between money and morality.
You see corrupt wealthy people on the news and know stories of families torn apart by inheritance fights. Your church praised missionaries who 'gave up everything' and subtly shamed anyone with nice things.
Abraham was 'very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold'—and simultaneously called a friend of God, father of faith, and the one whose blessing we inherit. His wealth didn't corrupt him; it enabled him to rescue Lot, bless others, and be generous—wealth in the hands of the righteous is a tool for Kingdom impact.
I REFUSE the lie that wealth will make me evil. IT IS WRITTEN that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds NO SORROW. Abraham was extremely wealthy and God's friend. Job was richest in the east and blameless. David, Solomon, Joseph—all wealthy, all used by God. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 8:18—God gives me POWER to get wealth to ESTABLISH HIS COVENANT. My wealth isn't for hoarding; it's for impact. Money in my hands is money in Kingdom hands. I am blessed to BE a blessing. The barak blessing makes me a lender, not a borrower, so I can be generous beyond my imagination. Wealth is good. I receive it.
Your Father sees you afraid that His blessing will damage you, and He's gently reminding you that HIS blessing comes with NO SORROW—He's not setting a trap, He's giving a gift. He trusts you with wealth the way He trusted Abraham, Job, and David, because you're His daughter, and He knows the generous heart He's placed inside you will steward provision beautifully.
