"Real men don't need much sleep, I should be able to push through"
How it sounds in your head: Your dad works crazy hours and never complains. The guys who are winning are grinding while you're whining about being tired. Needing rest is weak. Champions sacrifice sleep. You're just soft.
"And He said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat."
-- Mark 6:31World's toxic masculinity contradicting Creator's design for rest
Every success story you see online is about the 4 AM grind, the hustle, the sacrifice. The guys getting recruited, getting scholarships, getting ahead—they're not sleeping eight hours. Rest feels like losing.
Jesus was sleeping so soundly in the back of a boat during a violent storm that could sink them that the disciples had to wake Him up in panic. He rested deeply while chaos raged—ultimate strength and peace.
I REFUSE the lie that needing rest makes me weak. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Himself commanded His disciples to rest, and I follow His pattern, not the world's grind culture. My strength comes from the Lord, not from sleep deprivation. The BARAK blessing over me includes rest without guilt and strength without striving. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives His beloved sleep, and receiving that gift is STRENGTH, not weakness. I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath—and that includes being wise enough to rest like Jesus did. My Father celebrates my rest, not my burnout.
The Father doesn't applaud you running yourself into the ground. He's running toward you like the prodigal's father, ready to give you the rest religion stole. He's not impressed by your exhaustion—He's moved by your surrender to His design.
