"Real friends don't exist; loyalty is just a fairy tale"
How it sounds in your head: Everyone's out for themselves. People use you until they don't need you, then they move on. The idea of friends who actually stay is just something in movies. I need to accept reality and stop expecting what doesn't exist.
"A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
-- Proverbs 18:24Enemy using betrayal to destroy her belief in covenant friendship, making cynicism look like maturity
Her lived experience seems to prove this—the people she thought were 'real friends' proved they weren't. Believing loyalty exists requires hope, and hope feels dangerous when you've been hurt.
Jonathan loved David as his own soul and gave him his robe, armor, sword, and bow—symbolically giving David his FUTURE as prince. When his own father tried to kill David, Jonathan risked his LIFE to protect his friend, proving that covenant loyalty isn't a fairy tale.
I REFUSE the lie that real friends don't exist! IT IS WRITTEN that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother—God wouldn't promise something impossible. Jesus called His disciples FRIENDS and laid down His life for them—that's the model of loyalty I'm walking into. I am a daughter of the King, and He's bringing me Jonathan-and-David-level friendships where covenant is real and loyalty isn't conditional. IT IS WRITTEN that He Himself is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, and He's introducing me to people who reflect His heart. Cynicism is NOT wisdom; it's trauma pretending to protect me. The RIGHT friends are already on their way, and they will STAY.
The Father isn't offended that you doubt loyal friendship exists—He's introducing Himself as the Friend who proves it's real, and then He's surrounding you with people who will reflect His faithfulness. He's not asking you to believe in people; He's asking you to believe in HIM, and He's bringing the proof.
