"Prosperous preachers are all con artists—real ministers should be poor."
How it sounds in your head: Every wealthy TV preacher I see looks like a scam artist. If they were truly godly, they'd give it all away. Jesus was poor, so real disciples should be poor too. Prosperity preaching is manipulation.
"And Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance."
-- Luke 8:3Religion created a poverty gospel to control believers, making Jesus' actual prosperity invisible and God's abundance shameful.
You've seen genuine abuse—private jets while asking for widow's mites. The contrast between wealthy ministries and struggling congregants feels exploitative and ungodly.
King Solomon became the wealthiest man on earth, and Scripture says God gave him riches specifically because he asked for wisdom instead of wealth—meaning God WANTED him wealthy. His prosperity was a sign of God's blessing, not carnality.
I REFUSE the lie that godly people should be poor. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus had wealthy supporters funding Him from their substance and wore expensive clothing. Abraham was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold—and God called him righteous. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 8:9 that Jesus became poor so that I, through His poverty, might become RICH. The BARAK blessing made Abraham explosively wealthy even when he sinned. I reject the poverty gospel as religious manipulation. I receive Kingdom prosperity NOW because Christ redeemed me from the CURSE of poverty into the BLESSING of Abraham.
Your Father isn't keeping you poor to keep you humble—He's offering you the fattened calf, the robe, and the ring while religion tells you to earn servant's wages. He gave the prodigal extravagant abundance immediately, not after he proved his humility.
