"Prosperity gospel is fake. Biblical wealth is only about spiritual blessings, not actual money."
How it sounds in your head: You've seen the televangelists with jets and the scandals, so you assume ANY teaching on biblical prosperity is manipulation. You're told 'true riches' means being content while broke, and wanting actual financial breakthrough is carnal and shallow.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religious reaction to abuse: throwing out biblical truth because some misused it, leaving believers in poverty as if that's holier.
The prosperity gospel HAS been abused by con artists, so rejecting ALL financial blessing seems safer. Plus poverty feels more 'spiritual' and less controversial than believing God actually wants you wealthy.
Abraham was 'very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.' Not as a side effect but as the BLESSING. God didn't say 'I'll make your name great spiritually but keep you broke physically.' Material blessing WAS the promised blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that biblical prosperity is only spiritual while I stay broke in reality. IT IS WRITTEN that God desires I prosper in ALL THINGS, just as my soul prospers. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse so the BLESSING of Abraham would come upon me - and Abraham was RICH in silver, gold, and livestock. I am Abraham's seed through Christ (Galatians 3:29), heir to the BARAK that brought material wealth not by works but by covenant. Prosperity in ALL THINGS is my inheritance. I receive it NOW.
The Father isn't watching you struggle financially and saying 'Good, suffering builds character.' He's the One who gave the prodigal the ring (authority over resources), the robe (identity as heir), and threw a party with the fattened calf. He celebrates LAVISH restoration.
