"People will never see past my accent, my name, or the color of my skin."
How it sounds in your head: They make assumptions before you open your mouth. They ask 'where are you really from?' They compliment your English. They touch your hair without asking. They mispronounce your name and don't bother to learn it. You are perpetually foreign, perpetually other, perpetually explaining yourself.
"For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
-- 1 Samuel 16:7Enemy strategy to make you believe you are defined by human perception rather than divine declaration.
It happens daily. Microaggressions are called 'micro' but they accumulate into massive weight. You're exhausted from being a walking teaching moment, from representing your entire ethnicity, from being seen as a category instead of a person.
Moses protested his speech impediment, saying he was 'slow of speech and slow of tongue.' God's response wasn't to fix his speech—it was 'I will be with your mouth.' His very weakness became the proof that the power was God's, not his.
I REFUSE the lie that human perception determines my worth or limits my calling. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord does not see as man sees—He looks at the heart, and my heart is hidden with Christ in God. I am not defined by accents, names, or skin—I am defined by whose I am. The favor of God on my life overrides every human bias. IT IS WRITTEN that I have been given a new name written on a white stone that no one knows except the one who receives it. What people see is not the full picture—what God declares is my reality. I carry the BARAK blessing, and it commands favor in every room I enter.
The Father doesn't see your ethnicity as a hurdle He has to work around—He wove it into your design on purpose. He's running toward you not despite your differences but celebrating them, saying 'This is exactly how I meant for you to reflect My image.'
