"Other women have the body/face/hair I'll never have; I'll always be less-than"
How it sounds in your head: God gave her the genes, the effortless beauty, the body that fits the clothes. You got the short end—the frizzy hair, the wrong proportions, the skin that breaks out. You're the before picture in someone else's glow-up story.
"You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you."
-- Song of Solomon 4:7Source: World's beauty standards and enemy's lie that your value is measured in millimeters and pounds on a scale
You see the difference in the mirror daily and in how people respond to her versus you. Beauty seems randomly distributed, and you drew the short straw in a genetic lottery.
Esther was an orphaned Jewish girl in a foreign land competing with the most beautiful women in 127 provinces. 'The king loved Esther more than all the other women'—not because she looked like them, but because of God's favor. One night changed her from orphan to queen.
I REFUSE the lie that my beauty is measured by her standard. IT IS WRITTEN that I am ALL FAIR with NO SPOT—this is Jesus' declaration over me right now, not a goal for someday. My body is not a mistake or a rough draft of someone better. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:14 that God's works are wonderful, and I am His work. The BARAK blessing means I am blessed in my coming and going, in my appearance and presence. The Father isn't wishing I looked different—He's celebrating the daughter He custom-designed, and He thinks I'm STUNNING.
While you're cataloging flaws, the Father is cataloging beauty—He doesn't see what you see in the mirror because He sees you through the lens of delight. He's not waiting for your glow-up; He's already glowing over you.
