"Nobody truly knows me because if they did, they would reject the real me."
How it sounds in your head: I perform different versions of myself depending on who I'm with. The real me - the doubts, the struggles, the weird thoughts - stays hidden because I've learned people can't handle the truth. If anyone saw the full picture, they'd leave.
"O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off."
-- Psalm 139:1-2Shame assignment from early rejection experiences convincing you authenticity equals abandonment.
You've tried being real before and watched people get uncomfortable, pull away, or weaponize your vulnerability later. So you've learned to curate, perform, and hide - which creates the very isolation you fear.
Jesus told Nathanael 'I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you' - revealing He knew Nathanael's private moments and hidden thoughts. Instead of rejection, Nathanael experienced the most profound acceptance of his life and immediately declared Jesus as King.
I REFUSE the lie that being known equals rejection. IT IS WRITTEN that God has searched me and known me completely - every thought, every doubt, every hidden part - and His response is pursuit, not rejection. The Father knows the real me better than I know myself and celebrates what He sees. I am blessed with the Abrahamic covenant that attracted people to Abraham despite his flaws. IT IS WRITTEN that perfect love casts out fear - I am fully known and fully loved. I walk in the courage to be authentic because my acceptance is already secured.
The Father sees the version of you that you hide from everyone else, and He's so delighted He threw a party in heaven when you came to Him. He's not waiting for you to become more presentable - He's running toward the real you with embrace, celebration, and the proclamation that you are His beloved son.
