"No one remembers the woman I used to be—they only see this frail, failing version."
How it sounds in your head: I was beautiful once. I was strong, capable, the one people came to for help. Now they see wrinkles, gray hair, shaking hands. New nurses don't know I was a teacher, a mother, a force. They just see an old lady who needs help cutting her food. That woman I was is erased.
"But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'"
-- 1 Samuel 16:7World system worshiping youth and external appearance while devaluing the eternal person within.
Mirrors reflect a body she doesn't recognize, people make assumptions based on her appearance, she's treated as less competent because she looks elderly. The world judges by outward appearance and hers has changed dramatically.
A 90-year-old woman with a body 'past the manner of women,' considered barren and used up. God didn't just restore her youth—He made her CONCEIVE and birth the child of promise, proving nothing is impossible for Him regardless of physical appearance.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm only what people see in this aging body. IT IS WRITTEN that man looks at outward appearance but God looks at the HEART—and my heart is more beautiful now than ever. Though my outer self may be perishing, IT IS WRITTEN that my inner self is being RENEWED day by day. Every wrinkle tells a story of battles won, every gray hair is a crown of glory found in the way of righteousness. I am not LESS of who I was—I am MORE. The BARAK blessing sees the REAL me, the eternal me, the me that God has been refining for decades. I declare I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made, and that includes right NOW.
The Father doesn't look at you and see what's fading—He sees what's EMERGING. Like a sculptor who sees the masterpiece inside the marble, He sees the you that's being perfected, the you that will step into eternity fully realized. He's not disappointed by your aging; He's PROUD of the refining.
