"My worth is in my ministry; without it, I have no value or purpose."
How it sounds in your head: For decades, people have known you as the pastor's wife, the worship leader, the teacher. Without that role, who are you? Your identity is wrapped up in what you do. If ministry stops, you disappear.
"He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will."
-- Ephesians 1:4-5World system defining worth by function—stealing the revelation that identity is POSITION in Christ, not PRODUCTION for Christ.
Retirement is stripping away the roles that have defined you for 30+ years. People don't call anymore for counsel. You're no longer on the platform. The calendar is empty and it feels like YOU are empty.
While Martha was frantic with ministry activity, Mary simply sat at Jesus' feet doing 'nothing productive.' When Martha complained, Jesus defended Mary, saying she chose the ONE THING NEEDED—instant validation that BEING with Him outweighs DOING for Him.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth is in my ministry or activity. IT IS WRITTEN that God chose me and adopted me before the foundation of the world based on the good pleasure of HIS WILL, not my works. I am holy and without blame IN LOVE—this is my position, not my performance. IT IS WRITTEN that Mary chose the better part by simply BEING at His feet rather than frantically serving. I declare I am a DAUGHTER first, a minister second. The BARAK blessing is mine not because of what I do but because of WHOSE I am—grafted into Christ, heir according to promise. My identity is SEALED.
The Father is whispering, 'Beloved, you've been trying so hard to prove your value. I settled your worth before time began. Come sit at My feet—you have NOTHING to prove and EVERYTHING to receive.' Your ministry was always overflow, never foundation.
