"My wife's infertility means I've failed as a man and provider."
How it sounds in your head: Every guy my age is posting ultrasounds. I can't even give her this. What kind of husband can't give his wife a baby? Maybe I'm being judged for my past—all those hookups, all that porn. I broke something and now we're both paying for it.
"Sing, O barren, you who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman, says the LORD."
-- Isaiah 54:1Source: Performance-based masculinity from world + sexual shame from religion.
Culture says real men produce offspring and provide everything. Every negative pregnancy test feels like you've failed the one job biology gave you, and past sexual sin creates a narrative that this is payback.
Abraham was 99, Sarah was 90, both bodies 'as good as dead' for reproduction. God spoke ONE WORD and within the year Isaac was born—the child of promise who became a nation, despite decades of barrenness and Abraham's past failures including fathering Ishmael through unbelief.
I REFUSE the lie that infertility defines my manhood or proves God's judgment. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes the barren woman a joyful mother of children. My identity is not in biological performance but in Christ's finished work. IT IS WRITTEN that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and I am blessed coming in and going out under the Abrahamic covenant through Christ. The same God who opened Sarah's womb at 90, Elizabeth's womb in old age, and Hannah's womb after years of mockery is the God who holds my future. I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, and children are part of my covenant inheritance.
The Father is not waiting for you to atone for past sexual sin—Jesus already did that at the cross. He's running toward you with the robe of righteousness, and the same supernatural power that raised Christ from the dead is available to open any womb, because nothing is impossible with Him.
