"My weight loss means I'm disappearing—becoming less of a man, less of myself every day."
How it sounds in your head: You used to fill a room. Strong handshake, solid frame, presence. Now you're skeletal. Clothes hang off you. You feel like a ghost of who you were. Shrinking body equals shrinking identity.
"For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
-- 1 Samuel 16:7Cultural worship of male physical strength and size as identity, allowing temporary shell to define eternal substance.
The scale doesn't lie—you've lost 40, 50, 60 pounds. Photos from last year show a different person. Your wedding ring slides off. Physical presence WAS your calling card.
Paul had a physical affliction that made him appear weak—he wrote that his bodily presence was 'weak.' Yet God said, 'My strength is made PERFECT in weakness.' Paul's greatest power came when his body was most limited.
I REFUSE the lie that my weight loss equals my disappearance or diminishment. IT IS WRITTEN that man looks at outward appearance but God looks at the HEART—and my heart is STRONG in Him. My physical frame may be temporary housing, but my TRUE identity is hidden with Christ in God, immeasurable and eternal. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made PERFECT in weakness. I am not shrinking—I am being REFINED. Every pound lost on earth is eternal WEIGHT OF GLORY gained. I am not less of a man. I am MORE of who I was created to be—spirit clothed in Christ.
The Father doesn't measure you in pounds. He measures you in BELOVEDNESS, and that scale never drops—it only increases. He sees you as you're about to be: fully restored, radiant, powerful in ways no gym ever produced.
