"My spiritual authority died with my physical strength and independence."
How it sounds in your head: I used to be strong, independent, a provider. I made decisions, led, acted. Now I'm completely dependent - can't even use the bathroom alone. My manhood is gone. How can I have authority when I have no independence left?
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Enemy equating masculine authority with physical independence - hiding that spiritual authority is based on SONSHIP, not strength.
Complete dependence on others for everything. Lost all independence. Provider identity gone. Physical strength that defined his masculinity is completely gone. Feels emasculated and powerless.
Paul wrote Philippians from PRISON, in chains, completely dependent on guards for everything. Yet he said his chains advanced the gospel MORE than his freedom did. His physical imprisonment increased his spiritual authority. Dependence didn't diminish power - it magnified it.
I REFUSE the lie that my authority died with my independence. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made PERFECT in my weakness. This complete dependence isn't emasculation - it's PERFECTION of His power in me. IT IS WRITTEN that when I am weak, THEN I am strong. My authority was never in my muscles or my independence - it was always CHRIST IN ME. The BARAK blessing doesn't fluctuate with my ability to provide or act independently - it's COVENANT sealed in blood. I am a SON of God whether I'm carrying others or being carried. My spiritual authority is at its PEAK right now because His strength has no competition from mine. I am not less of a man - I am a man utterly DEPENDENT on the Almighty, and that's the most powerful position there is.
The Father doesn't mourn your lost independence - He celebrates your COMPLETE dependence on Him. What you see as weakness, He sees as the removal of everything that competed with His strength. You're not less powerful - you're a PURER vessel for His power than you've ever been. Your manhood is defined by SONSHIP, not strength.
