"My sin is different from others—uniquely disqualifying in God's economy of redemption."
How it sounds in your head: I hear the testimonies of guys who came back from addiction, bankruptcy, even adultery. But my thing? It's different. It's darker. It's the one sin nobody talks about in church. Other guys get restored but men who did what I did? We stay in the shadows. We're the exception to grace.
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such WERE some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."
-- 1 Corinthians 6:9-11Source: Enemy's strategy to isolate through shame by convincing you your sin is in a category beyond biblical examples, creating a false hierarchy of forgivable and unforgivable acts.
The silence around your specific struggle in church culture feels like confirmation that it's uniquely disqualifying. Isolation reinforces the lie that you're alone in this particular darkness.
Rahab was a PROSTITUTE in a pagan city marked for destruction—her profession was selling her body to strangers, her people were under God's judgment. Yet she's not only spared but placed in the MESSIANIC LINE—she's in Jesus' genealogy, listed by name in Matthew 1 and honored in Hebrews 11's faith hall of fame. Her past didn't disqualify her from being a great-great-grandmother of JESUS.
I REFUSE the lie that my sin is uniquely disqualifying. IT IS WRITTEN that fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, thieves, and extortioners WERE some of you—past tense, washed clean, no tiers of forgiveness. What I did is not outside the scope of the cross; it's the exact reason the cross EXISTS. IT IS WRITTEN that where sin abounded, grace abounded MUCH MORE—the greater the sin, the greater the display of grace. My sin doesn't put me in a special category of unredeemable; it puts me in the category of every human who needs Jesus—which is EVERYONE. The BARAK blessing covered MURDERERS and SEXUAL SINNERS—I am covered by better blood in a better covenant.
The Father isn't shocked or disgusted by what you did—He saw it before the foundation of the world and still chose you, still called you, still has assignments with your name on them. He's about to prove that your past isn't a disqualifier; it's the setup for a testimony that will set other captives free—your darkness is about to become someone else's roadmap to light.
