"My sexual desire at this age is shameful and should have disappeared by now."
How it sounds in your head: I'm supposed to be past this. Godly older men are supposed to be above physical desires. The fact that I still struggle with this proves something is spiritually wrong with me. I should have outgrown this decades ago.
"But if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion."
-- 1 Corinthians 7:9Religious teaching that demonizes sexual desire rather than recognizing it as God-given design, creating shame around normal biological function especially in older men.
Church culture implies sexual desire is for young married people, and struggling with temptation at 65 feels like evidence of spiritual immaturity. The body still responds, and guilt follows, creating cycle of shame and hiding.
At 90 and 99 years old respectively, Sarah laughed and said, 'After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?' God PROMISED them a child, affirming that sexual function and desire continuing in advanced age was part of His plan, not something shameful.
I REFUSE the lie that my sexual desire is shameful. IT IS WRITTEN that if I cannot exercise self-control, I should marry—acknowledging that desire is NORMAL, not sinful. My body's design doesn't expire at an arbitrary age. I am not condemned—IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I am RIGHTEOUS by blood, not by absence of desire. The BARAK blessing includes WHOLENESS in every area, including sexuality. I will not agree with shame that God never assigned. My desire is DESIGN seeking legitimate expression, and the Father is not disappointed in me.
The Father doesn't see shameful depravity—He sees a man with normal desires that He Himself designed, and a son who's been believing condemnation that never came from Him. He's not waiting for you to stop being human; He's inviting you to bring even THIS to Him without shame.
