"My panic attacks and fear prove the enemy has more power over me than God does."
How it sounds in your head: I pray, I cry out, but the panic still comes. The terror still grips me at night. If God was really stronger, wouldn't He override this? It feels like darkness is winning in my mind and God is letting it happen.
"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."
-- 1 John 4:4The enemy twists the experience of ongoing mental struggle into evidence of his own power, making symptoms feel like spiritual defeat.
The panic is visceral, immediate, overwhelming - it FEELS more powerful than any sense of God's presence. When prayer doesn't stop the attack, it seems like proof the enemy is stronger.
Beaten, bleeding, feet in stocks in a prison - physical trauma, terrifying circumstances. They sang anyway, and at midnight an earthquake freed them. God's power wasn't negated by their suffering; it showed up IN their suffering. The prison couldn't contain His power despite their pain.
I REFUSE the lie that panic attacks prove enemy victory. IT IS WRITTEN that He who is IN ME is greater than he who is in the world - not 'will be' but IS, right now. The enemy can attack my nervous system, but he cannot touch my IDENTITY as sealed in Christ. Paul and Silas were beaten and imprisoned, yet God's power still broke chains. My panic doesn't mean darkness is winning; it means I'm experiencing a physical battle while positioned in spiritual VICTORY. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 1:13 that I have ALREADY been delivered from the power of darkness - past tense, finished. BARAK-blessed means protected by covenant even when symptoms scream otherwise.
Your Father sees every panic attack and isn't wringing His hands wondering if the enemy is winning. He's holding you THROUGH it, whispering 'This doesn't change who you are, beloved.' The victory is already won; your nervous system just hasn't gotten the memo yet, and that's okay.
