"My infertility exists to make me more compassionate, patient, or spiritually mature."
How it sounds in your head: People keep saying God is using this to refine me, teach me patience, make me appreciate motherhood more, or prepare me for ministry to other infertile women. Like my barrenness is a divine classroom and I'm the slow student who needs extra lessons. Maybe if I learn the lesson fast enough, I'll 'graduate' to motherhood.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious teaching that makes God the author of suffering-as-pedagogy, creating transactional theology where pain earns spiritual growth or future blessing.
Suffering demands meaning, and religious frameworks offering purpose ('God is teaching you...') provide narrative structure that feels more bearable than random pain.
Twelve years bleeding, spent all money on doctors who made it worse, suffered greatly—yet Jesus NEVER said 'I gave you this to teach you something.' He said 'Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in PEACE.' INSTANT healing, no lessons required.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me infertility as a teaching tool to make me more patient, compassionate, or spiritually mature. IT IS WRITTEN: the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE. My barrenness is not a divine classroom with lessons I must master to 'graduate' to motherhood. IT IS WRITTEN: every good and perfect gift is from above—suffering is NOT God's gift. The woman with the issue of blood suffered twelve years, and Jesus NEVER said 'I gave you this to refine you.' He healed her INSTANTLY and called her DAUGHTER. I am Abraham's seed, covered by the BARAK blessing that operated REGARDLESS of lessons learned or character developed. I declare my worth is NOT measured by how much I endure or what I learn through pain. God's heart is LIFE, BLESSING, ABUNDANCE—not suffering disguised as pedagogy.
The Father isn't orchestrating your infertility as a character-building exercise, waiting to see if you'll learn the right lessons to earn children. He's the one who healed the bleeding woman WITHOUT requiring twelve years of suffering to make her 'ready'—He called her DAUGHTER and sent her in peace, not to graduate from pain university.
