"My impulse spending and debt show I don't have the character for financial blessing."
How it sounds in your head: Blessed people have self-control and discipline. I buy things to feel better and can't stick to a budget. God can't trust me with wealth because I'd just waste it. My character needs to change first.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Older brother theology from Luke 15—making blessing about deserving it through character instead of receiving it through sonship.
You literally have Amazon packages arriving that you bought impulsively at midnight and can't even remember ordering. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit and you clearly don't have it with money.
Lied about his wife being his sister out of fear, showed weak character in the same way his father Abraham did. Despite the deception, he planted crops and reaped a hundredfold the same year, became extremely wealthy with flocks, herds, and servants—the blessing wasn't based on his honesty.
I REFUSE the lie that my character must improve before I can receive financial blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that God loved me while I was STILL a sinner. The prodigal got full restoration while smelling like pigs, before proving any character change. Isaac LIED and still reaped a hundredfold. The BARAK blessing covered Jacob's DECEPTION. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ—not through my self-control but through HIS blood. My identity isn't 'impulse spender' but beloved daughter, blessed coming in and going out. I receive the blessing NOW based on Jesus's character, not mine.
Your Father sees you through the lens of Jesus's finished work, not your spending habits. The ring and robe come FIRST—the transformation follows encounter with His lavish love, not the other way around.
