"My husband and I are being punished because we weren't virgins when we married."
How it sounds in your head: You confessed your sexual past to each other, you repented, you thought grace covered it. But the infertility feels like proof that some sins leave permanent scars, that you forfeited the blessing of children when you gave yourselves to others first.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
-- Isaiah 43:25Source: Purity culture teaching that sexual sin has lifelong earthly consequences even when forgiven, religious shame about "damaged goods," enemy using past to steal present.
The cause-and-effect feels obvious—you violated God's design for sex, and now reproduction (the purpose of that design) is broken. Testimonies of couples who "waited" and easily conceived seem to reinforce that your sexual past forfeited your fertility future.
Bathsheba's first child with David came from adultery and died, yet God gave her Solomon—the wisest king in history, the one through whom the Messianic line continued. Her sexual sin (whether victim or participant) didn't disqualify her from bearing the royal line. God redeemed and BLESSED.
I REFUSE the lie that my sexual past forfeited my fertility future. IT IS WRITTEN that God blots out my transgressions and will NOT REMEMBER my sins. Rahab was a prostitute in the line of Jesus. Bathsheba's adultery didn't disqualify her from bearing Solomon. IT IS WRITTEN that if anyone is in Christ, they are a NEW CREATION—old things have passed away. My virginity or lack thereof does NOT determine God's blessing. The BARAK covered intentional deceivers—how much more does grace cover sexual sin under the blood? My womb is blessed, my marriage is blessed, and my past is GONE.
The Father isn't tallying your sexual partners before deciding whether to give you children—He put a woman who committed adultery in the royal line and made a prostitute the great-great-grandmother of His Son. Your past is buried in the sea of forgetfulness, and He's writing a NEW story over your womb right now.
