"My health issues are punishment for how I lived when I was younger."
How it sounds in your head: I drank too much. Smoked. Didn't take care of myself. Fooled around. Now I'm paying the price. This is what I deserve for those wasted years.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
-- Romans 8:1Enemy/religion: Makes God punisher instead of healer; denies finished work of cross.
The doctor says lifestyle caused it—smoking, drinking, diet. You CAN trace it back to choices you made. Religious voices say you reap what you sow. The guilt feels earned.
He wasted EVERYTHING on immoral living—came back smelling like pigs. The father didn't make him pay for it or earn his way back. IMMEDIATELY gave him ring, robe, sandals, threw a party—FULL restoration in minutes.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm being punished. IT IS WRITTEN: There is NO condemnation for those in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN: He blotted out what was against me. I am Abraham's seed—the BARAK blessing isn't based on my performance but HIS covenant. The prodigal was restored INSTANTLY despite his sin. My past is under the blood. By His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. I receive healing NOW, not punishment.
The Father isn't keeping score of your past. He's the one who RAN to the prodigal who REEKED of rebellion and threw a party. He's running toward you with healing, not punishment, because the cross FINISHED the payment.
