"My financial situation proves I missed God's will for my life."
How it sounds in your head: If you'd chosen the right major, the right job, the right city—you'd be thriving by now. Your broke bank account feels like proof you missed the turn God wanted you to take. Maybe you were supposed to be a doctor, not in this dead-end job. Your financial struggle is evidence you're off-path.
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
-- Romans 8:28Religious anxiety about 'God's will' that makes financial outcome proof of obedience rather than covenant blessing.
Christians talk about 'God's will' like it's a tightrope—one wrong step and you're off the path permanently. Your financial struggle feels like evidence you chose wrong, and now you're stuck in 'plan B' while others who chose right are thriving.
Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery (definitely NOT God's 'perfect will'), he was falsely accused and imprisoned for years (more 'off-path' circumstances), yet God worked it ALL for good—he became second in Egypt and saved nations. His 'off-path' became his promotion. Even betrayal and prison couldn't stop God's blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that my financial situation proves I missed God's will. IT IS WRITTEN that ALL things work together for good—not 'if you choose perfectly' but ALL things. Joseph was sold into slavery and imprisoned, yet God promoted him to second in Egypt. IT IS WRITTEN that even my 'mistakes' are woven into good by my Father. I am called according to His purpose, and my financial future isn't determined by past decisions—it's determined by COVENANT. The BARAK blessing isn't dependent on perfect choices. I am ON-PATH because I'm IN Christ.
Your Father isn't wringing His hands over your career choices or college major, wishing you'd taken a different path. He's AHEAD of you on every road you've walked, already working 'mistakes' into miracles, turning 'wrong turns' into shortcuts to promotion. You can't out-mistake His grace.
