"My family's instability means I'll never have a secure, peaceful life or home."
How it sounds in your head: We moved constantly growing up. My dad couldn't keep a job. We were evicted twice. There was always chaos, always crisis. Now I'm an adult and I'm terrified I'll never have stability. Every time things are going well, I brace for the other shoe to drop because in my family, peace never lasts. Chaos is just who we are.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
-- Jeremiah 29:11Source: trauma + enemy. The enemy uses your childhood instability to make you believe that chaos is your 'normal' and that you're cosmically disqualified from peace, safety, and rest because your family never had it.
She's never experienced sustained peace or stability, so it feels like a fairy tale for other families. Every time life smooths out, something falls apart, confirming her belief that she's somehow allergic to security. Her nervous system has been trained to expect crisis, so peace actually feels dangerous and unfamiliar.
David grew up the forgotten youngest son, not even invited to his own anointing. Then he spent YEARS running from Saul, living in caves, hiding, constantly on the move—zero stability. One day, God said 'enough,' and David went from CAVE to PALACE in a moment—not after he 'earned' stability through years of faithfulness, but because God decided it was time. Instant transition from chaos to kingship.
I REFUSE the lie that my family's chaos is my destiny. IT IS WRITTEN in Jeremiah 29:11 that God's thoughts toward me are thoughts of PEACE, not evil, to give me a FUTURE and a HOPE. My childhood instability does not override God's plan to give me a secure, peaceful life. I am not 'working toward' stability as a reward for good behavior; I am a NEW CREATION, and God is building me a HOUSE—not a temporary shelter, but a permanent dwelling place marked by peace, safety, and rest. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 107:30, 'He guides them to their desired haven'—my family was lost at sea, but I am being guided to the HAVEN my soul has longed for, not because I earned it, but because He's a GOOD FATHER who gives His children a stable home. I declare that my future is marked by PEACE, security, and the BARAK blessing that made Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob settle and prosper in the land.
The Father isn't waiting for you to 'prove you can handle' stability before He gives it to you. He's RUNNING toward you with the KEYS to a home that won't be taken away, not because you're more responsible than your parents, but because HE'S the one building your house, and what He builds doesn't crumble—your family's chaos was a WEAPON formed against you, but Isaiah 54:17 says it will NOT prosper in your future, and He's already preparing your desired HAVEN while you're still learning to believe it exists.
