"My family's history of abuse defines who we become"
How it sounds in your head: Abuse happened in my childhood, and I see its effects in how my daughter parents. Victims become abusers. Trauma gets passed down. We're all damaged, and that damage marks the next generation. It's too deep to heal.
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to comfort all who mourn, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness."
-- Isaiah 61:1-3Trauma lie that wounds create permanent identity, denying Christ's power to heal IMMEDIATELY and COMPLETELY.
She's lived with the effects of abuse for decades and sees her own trauma responses show up in her children's behavior. Psychology teaches that trauma has 'generational impact,' making healing feel impossible.
Joseph was betrayed by brothers, falsely accused of rape, imprisoned for years—massive, repeated trauma. Yet he named his sons 'God has made me FORGET all my toil' and 'God has made me FRUITFUL in the land of my affliction'—complete healing so thorough he FORGOT the pain, declaring fruitfulness WHILE STILL IN THE LAND OF SUFFERING.
I REFUSE the lie that abuse defines my family's identity. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and give BEAUTY FOR ASHES—not gradually, but as a GIFT. My family is not 'wounded people wounding people.' We are NEW CREATIONS—old things PASSED AWAY. Trauma has no generational legal right because CHRIST'S BLOOD speaks louder than our history. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION in Christ Jesus. My children and grandchildren are not victims becoming abusers; they are BLESSED, HEALED, WHOLE because of covenant. Like Joseph, they can be FRUITFUL in the very land of their affliction. Healing is NOW—instant, complete, permanent.
The Father doesn't see your family through the lens of what was DONE to them but through what was DONE FOR them. He's not waiting for them to process trauma for years—He's offering beauty for ashes RIGHT NOW, complete healing in one encounter, just like Joseph's pain was so healed he literally FORGOT it.
