"My family doesn't talk about feelings—I'll never learn how to be emotionally healthy."
How it sounds in your head: Your house is where emotions go to die. Cry? 'Stop being dramatic.' Angry? 'Go to your room.' Sad? 'You're fine.' You're about to graduate and you don't even know how to NAME what you're feeling half the time, let alone process it. You think therapy might help but you can't afford it, and even if you could, you'd feel like a failure for needing it.
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
-- Psalm 147:3Source: The enemy convinces you that emotional health is a learned skill requiring years of therapy, not a fruit that grows naturally from abiding in Jesus.
You literally don't have the language. When you're upset, you don't know if it's anger, sadness, fear, or all three. Your boyfriend asks how you're feeling and you say 'fine' because you genuinely don't know how to access or articulate anything deeper.
Hannah was so emotionally broken she couldn't eat, wept bitterly, and was mistaken for drunk when she prayed. She poured out her soul to God in the temple. After ONE conversation with Eli—not even a good one—she left and 'her face was no longer sad.' Instant emotional shift. No therapy. One encounter of being heard by God.
I REFUSE the lie that my family's emotional dysfunction disqualifies me from wholeness. IT IS WRITTEN that He HEALS the brokenhearted and binds up wounds—not that I have to heal myself through years of work. I am a BRANCH connected to the VINE. I don't PRODUCE emotional health—I ABIDE, and it flows naturally from Him. IT IS WRITTEN that I have the mind of Christ, which means I have access to HIS emotional wisdom and health, not just my family's brokenness. I am not limited by what I wasn't taught. I'm empowered by WHO I'm connected to. His Spirit in me knows exactly how to feel, process, and heal.
The Father sees you emotionally shut down, unable to name what you're feeling, and He's not handing you a workbook—He's whispering, 'Come to Me and I will give you REST.' Your emotional healing isn't a project. It's a Person. And He's already IN you, binding up every wound your family couldn't acknowledge.
