"My failures as a father define me more than Christ's finished work."
How it sounds in your head: You see your sons making the same mistakes you made. Your daughter won't talk about her childhood. The grandkids barely know you. You had one job as a man—raise them right—and you blew it. That's your legacy walking around.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Enemy leveraging provider-identity wound and imminent death to erase gospel reality of new creation.
The evidence walks on two legs—you can see the consequences of your absence, anger, or addiction in their lives. Masculine identity was built on provision and protection, and you see where you failed both.
Manasseh was Judah's WORST king—sacrificed his own sons in fire, filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, led the nation into abominations worse than the pagans. After 55 years of evil, he repented in captivity, and God IMMEDIATELY restored him, accepted him, heard his plea, and brought him back to Jerusalem.
I REFUSE the lie that my past fatherhood failures define me more than Christ's blood. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION—the old passed away the moment I believed. My identity is not 'the father who failed' but 'son of the Father who never fails.' IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:13-14 that ALL my trespasses were nailed to the cross and the record of debt was canceled. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and THAT is what my children inherit spiritually—not my mistakes but my position in Him. The BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine by covenant, protecting my lineage beyond my performance.
The Father runs toward you smelling like hospital antiseptic and regret, throws the robe of PERFECT FATHERHOOD over your shoulders, and declares a party. He's been preparing the feast for this moment—your return to knowing you're loved not for what you did, but for whose you are.
