"My eating disorder and cutting scars prove I'm too broken for God to use."
How it sounds in your head: You're mentally unstable. God needs stable people for kingdom work. Your scars tell everyone you couldn't handle life without destroying yourself. How could He trust you with anything important when you can't even trust yourself?
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Source: Stigma culture that equates mental health struggles with spiritual disqualification, denying the sufficiency of Christ's redemptive work.
Every scar is a permanent record of her 'failure,' and the eating disorder voice still whispers in vulnerable moments. She sees 'together' women leading Bible studies while she's still in therapy, and believes brokenness disqualifies her.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet, hiding in a wasteland, calling himself a 'dead dog'—yet King David brought him IMMEDIATELY to the palace, gave him Saul's entire estate, and seated him permanently at the king's table like a son. No healing required first; acceptance was instant.
I REFUSE the lie that my eating disorder and scars make me unusable. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made PERFECT in weakness, and His grace is SUFFICIENT for me. My scars are not disqualifications; they are testimonies of survival and canvases for His power. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds—not to shelve them but to DEPLOY them. I am a BRANCH in the VINE, and broken branches that stay connected produce the most fruit. The BARAK blessing doesn't require perfection; it requires COVENANT, and I am Abraham's seed through Christ.
The Father sees your scars the way He sees the nail prints in Jesus' hands—proof of a battle survived, not proof of disqualification. He's pulling out the chair at His table with your name on it RIGHT NOW, and He's never once asked you to heal yourself before you sit down.
