"My daughter's lifestyle choices mean she was never really saved to begin with."
How it sounds in your head: She prayed the prayer at VBS, got baptized at youth camp, but look at her now. Maybe it wasn't real. Maybe she fooled us. Maybe we gave her false assurance.
"If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself."
-- 2 Timothy 2:13Calvinist perseverance doctrine weaponized—making current behavior the proof of past genuineness, erasing the prodigal's story.
How can someone who truly knew Jesus live like this? The theology you've heard says 'if they fall away, they were never really in'—and her life seems to confirm it.
Jonah was a prophet who deliberately ran FROM God's command, got on a ship going the opposite direction, caused a storm, got thrown overboard, and sat in a fish's belly. God didn't revoke his calling or question his salvation—He repositioned him and he completed his ministry.
I REFUSE the lie that my daughter's lifestyle erases her salvation. IT IS WRITTEN that if we are faithless, HE remains faithful—her behavior doesn't determine His faithfulness. Salvation is a GIFT, and God's gifts are irrevocable. She is a prodigal, not a pretender. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:28 that Jesus gives eternal life and they shall NEVER perish, and NO ONE can snatch them from His hand. My daughter's hand may have let go, but HIS hand never has. The BARAK blessing covers her—she's Abraham's seed by promise, and God's covenant with my household cannot be broken by her choices.
The Father doesn't audit salvation based on current zip code. She's His daughter having a far-country experience, not a stranger pretending to be family—and He's watching for her return with the same eyes that saw her at VBS.
