"My dad's anger means I'm worthless and unlovable"
How it sounds in your head: Every time Dad yells or ignores me, I feel like I don't matter. Maybe if I was better, smarter, or cooler, he'd actually want to be around me. I must be the problem.
"The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Trauma - projecting earthly father's wounds onto Heavenly Father's identity
His dad's actual behavior seems to prove it—the yelling, the distance, the disappointment in his eyes. He's starting to believe love must be earned through performance.
Mephibosheth was crippled, abandoned, hiding in fear, convinced he was worthless—the grandson of King Saul's fallen dynasty. David INSTANTLY restored him to the king's table permanently, gave him all of Saul's land, and treated him like his own son—not because of anything Mephibosheth did, but because of COVENANT.
I REFUSE the lie that my dad's anger defines my worth! IT IS WRITTEN that the Mighty One REJOICES over me with SINGING! I am not defined by earthly father wounds—I am defined by my Heavenly Father's delight. IT IS WRITTEN that I am loved, chosen, and celebrated. The BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine through Christ—I am blessed coming in and going out, protected, favored, and God's beloved son. My identity is GIFT, not achievement!
Your Father in heaven is RIGHT NOW singing over you, not waiting for you to earn it. While you still carry the smell of your dad's rejection, He's already running toward you with the robe, ring, and sandals.
