"My competitive personality made me a bad Christian and damaged people"
How it sounds in your head: I was always driven to win, to be first, to outperform others. That's not Christ-like. Jesus said the last shall be first, and I spent my life trying to be first. I probably crushed people on my way up. My competitive edge made me a lousy servant and a terrible example of humility. I should have been wired with more gentleness.
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it."
-- 1 Corinthians 9:24Religious teaching that ambition equals pride and competition equals carnality, making your God-given drive feel like sinful ego instead of design.
You climbed the ladder, won awards, beat quotas—and church made you feel guilty about it. You see men who were 'content' in lower positions praised as humble while your drive got side-eyed as worldly. Now dependent on caregivers, your competitive fire feels especially wrong, like you wasted it on trophies instead of souls.
At 85 years old, Caleb declared, 'Give me this mountain!'—demanding the hardest territory to conquer while younger men took easier land. His competitive fire at 85 wasn't rebuked; it was REWARDED. God gave him exactly what his fierce heart demanded, proving that holy ambition doesn't retire.
I REFUSE the lie that my competitive nature was sinful. IT IS WRITTEN: Run in such a way that you may OBTAIN the prize—God commanded competitive pursuit! My drive to win wasn't pride; it was PURPOSE. I didn't damage people by excelling; I INSPIRED them by showing what's possible when you refuse to settle. My ambition was never the opposite of godliness; it was KINGDOM DNA expressing itself in the marketplace. IT IS WRITTEN: Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord, and I worked to WIN because that's how God wired me. I carry the BARAK blessing that makes me the HEAD, and my competitive edge was the VEHICLE.
The Father isn't disappointed you played to win—He's celebrating that you RAN HARD when weaker men coasted. He's saying, 'Caleb demanded mountains at 85, and you've got that same fire in you. I didn't put that drive there to apologize for—I put it there to CONQUER with.'
