"My children's rebellion proves I never really knew God myself."
How it sounds in your head: If I had genuine faith, it would have transferred to them. Their atheism exposes my hypocrisy. Maybe I was never truly saved. Maybe this whole thing was a religious show I couldn't even sell to my own kids.
"For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day."
-- 2 Timothy 1:12Enemy: Uses children's choices to create doubt about your own salvation and lifelong faith, dismantling identity at the end.
They saw you closer than anyone and rejected what you believe. If your faith was real, wouldn't they have seen something authentic enough to keep?
Noah walked with God so closely he was the ONLY righteous man on earth, yet his son Ham dishonored him and was cursed. The most righteous father of his generation had a rebellious son—their choices don't invalidate your relationship with God.
I REFUSE the lie that my children's choices invalidate my salvation. IT IS WRITTEN that HE is able to KEEP what I've committed to Him—my security is in HIS grip, not their validation. Noah was the ONLY righteous man on earth and had a son who dishonored him. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ—not based on children's faith, not based on transferred anointing. I KNOW whom I have believed, and that knowledge isn't dependent on who else believes. My identity is CHRIST IN ME, the hope of glory—not 'successful Christian dad.'
The Father knows your faith is genuine because HE gave it to you as a gift—your children's rebellion doesn't make Him question your salvation, and it shouldn't make you question it either. You're sealed by the Holy Spirit, not by your kids' approval.
