"My body is wrong. I'm developing too fast, too slow, or all wrong."
How it sounds in your head: Some girls already look like teenagers. Others still look like kids. I'm either too much or not enough. My body is doing things I didn't ask for and I feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I hate how I look.
"Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them."
-- Psalm 139:16Enemy assault on her physical identity during vulnerable developmental stage, amplified by media images and comparison to peers at different development rates.
Puberty is awkward and everyone develops differently. She's literally experiencing physical changes she can't control, watching her body betray her with acne, curves, or lack thereof. Mirrors and comments confirm she doesn't match the 'ideal.'
Leah had 'weak eyes'—not the beauty standard. Rachel was gorgeous. Yet God saw Leah's pain and opened her womb FIRST, making her mother of Judah—the messianic line. Jesus came through the 'unlovely' sister. God's favor doesn't follow beauty culture.
I REFUSE the lie that my body is wrong. IT IS WRITTEN that God saw my unformed substance and wrote all my days in His book before one came to be. Every stage of development is His design. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, created in God's image—female reflects the Creator. I am not too much or not enough. I am on heaven's timeline. The BARAK blessing covers my physical body—blessed in health, crowned with favor. Jesus came through Leah, the 'unlovely.' God's favor doesn't follow the world's beauty rules.
The Father isn't disappointed in your changing body. He wrote every stage before you were born. He's running toward you with acceptance, not criticism, loving you at every awkward phase. He crowned Leah, not Rachel, with the Messiah's line. His favor isn't based on beauty culture.
