"My body is meant to be small and take up less space to be acceptable and feminine."
How it sounds in your head: You've learned that good women are small women. Take up less room. Be quieter. Be smaller. Shrink. Your appetite, your body, your voice—all of it is supposed to be less. Femininity has been defined by absence, by what you don't take up, by how little you need.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14World—patriarchal messaging that women's value is in being decorative and non-threatening, teaching you that your size determines your femininity and your worthiness of love.
You've watched it your whole life—the tiny girl gets the guy, the small woman gets the promotion, the one who 'watches her figure' gets celebrated. Taking up space feels rebellious or masculine, and you've been taught to be neither of those things.
Deborah was a judge over ALL of Israel—a massive, space-taking role in a male-dominated culture. She didn't shrink or minimize herself to be acceptable. God IMMEDIATELY used her to deliver the nation, lead armies, and prophecy. Her influence was enormous because God called her to take up exactly that much space.
I REFUSE the lie that my femininity or worth is measured by how small I am. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—God was in awe creating me at this size, in this body. My value isn't in shrinking but in fully occupying the space God gave me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am created in God's image as a woman, which makes me powerful, beloved, and fully feminine at any size. The BARAK blessing over my life means I am blessed in my going out and coming in—not blessed in shrinking. I take up exactly the right amount of space because my Father designed me to fill it. I am fully woman, fully loved, fully acceptable as I am.
The Father didn't create you to disappear. He made you to take up space, to be seen, to be fully present in the room. Your size isn't the problem—the lie that you should be smaller is.
