"My accent or the way I speak will always hold me back professionally."
How it sounds in your head: You hear yourself on recordings and cringe. In meetings, people ask you to repeat yourself. You practice 'neutral' pronunciation at home, exhausted by the constant self-monitoring. You wonder if you'll ever sound 'professional' enough.
"Then Moses said to the Lord, 'O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.' So the Lord said to him, 'Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.'"
-- Exodus 4:10-12Source: Enemy weaponizing language differences to convince you God's anointing requires a certain accent, as if the Holy Spirit needs proper diction to flow through you.
You've been interrupted, corrected, or worse—imitated. You've watched people with 'better' accents get opportunities while you're asked to repeat yourself. Every conference call is a reminder that you sound different.
Uneducated Galilean fishermen with obvious regional accents stood before the religious elite. 'When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.' Their 'unprofessional' speech shook the system.
I REFUSE the lie that my accent limits God's ability to use me. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord made my mouth and will be with every word I speak. I am not disqualified by how I sound—I am anointed by whose I am. Peter and John were uneducated, untrained, and accented, yet they turned their world upside down because they'd been with Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath—this includes every professional space I enter. I am a branch connected to the Vine—fruitfulness flows regardless of pronunciation. My Father runs toward me with platforms that need MY voice, not a sanitized version. I walk in instant breakthrough favor because God's anointing doesn't require proper diction.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to sound different before He opens doors—He made your mouth exactly as it is and will anoint every syllable. He's running toward you with opportunities that need your authentic voice, not a performance of someone else's standard.
