"My accent or language barriers make me less intelligent or capable."
How it sounds in your head: I stumble over words in English. People ask me to repeat myself. I see their eyes glaze over when I talk. Teachers correct my grammar in front of everyone. I have smart things to say, but by the time I translate it in my head, the moment's passed. They think I'm slow.
"Then Moses said to the LORD, 'O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.' So the LORD said to him, 'Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.'"
-- Exodus 4:10-12World system equating language dominance with intelligence, making her earn value through fluency.
She's been interrupted and talked over when she pauses to find words. She's seen less intelligent native speakers taken more seriously. She's been placed in remedial classes despite advanced thinking because she can't express it fast enough in English.
Stuttering, slow of speech, probably had an accent from 40 years in Midian, told God 'I can't speak well' when called to lead. God said 'I made your mouth, now GO.' Moses led the Exodus, gave the Law, wrote five books of the Bible. His speech impediment didn't stop his assignment.
I REFUSE the lie that my accent or language barriers disqualify me. IT IS WRITTEN that God made my mouth and will be WITH my mouth, teaching me what to say. Eloquence is not a prerequisite for impact. Moses stuttered and led millions. My bilingual mind is a GIFT, not a deficit—I carry wisdom that monolingual thinkers can't access. IT IS WRITTEN that God chooses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, which means He delights in using what others dismiss. My accent is part of my story, not a barrier to my destiny. I walk in confidence that the Holy Spirit translates my heart when my words stumble, and the right people will lean in to hear the wisdom He placed in me.
The Father is running toward you celebrating the multiple languages you carry, the cultural bridges you build with your voice. He's not waiting for perfect English—He's giving you stages where your unique voice is exactly what's needed, accent and all.
