"Maybe adoption is God's way of saying natural children aren't His plan."
How it sounds in your head: You're researching adoption agencies and wondering if this is 'Plan B'—God's consolation prize when the real thing doesn't work. Is pursuing natural conception fighting against God's actual will?
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religious either/or thinking that pits adoption against natural conception as competing paths.
Well-meaning Christians suggest 'Maybe God wants you to adopt,' framing it as acceptance of defeat. Exhaustion from medical treatments makes any alternative sound like surrender disguised as faith.
Jochebed gave birth to Moses, then 'gave him up' to Pharaoh's daughter through adoption—but got PAID to nurse her own biological son. God gave her both biological motherhood AND the adoption blessing, protecting Moses through both.
I REFUSE the lie that adoption and natural conception are opposing paths. IT IS WRITTEN that God does exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think—He is NOT limited to one method of bringing children into my life. Adoption is BEAUTIFUL, and pursuing it does NOT cancel God's ability to open my womb naturally. IT IS WRITTEN that He grants the barren woman a home as a joyful mother of children—He gets to DEFINE how that happens. The BARAK blessing gives me children, period—biological, adopted, or BOTH. I am NOT settling; I am BELIEVING for God's best in whatever form He chooses.
The Father is smiling at your either/or thinking because He's a BOTH/AND God who loves surprising His kids. He might give you biological children, adopted children, or BOTH—but whatever He does will be exceedingly abundantly beyond what you're imagining right now, and every child in your life will be exactly who He intended.
