"Joint bank accounts are dangerous because someone always gets betrayed."
How it sounds in your head: Mom used the joint account for secret shopping and Dad didn't know until the bill came. My friend's mom did the same thing. Maybe sharing money with anyone is just stupid. Maybe keeping everything separate is the only way to be safe.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion."
-- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10Enemy teaching self-protection as wisdom, replacing covenant partnership with prenuptial thinking in a pre-teen girl.
She's seeing multiple examples of joint account betrayal in her immediate world, and her pattern-recognition brain is forming a 'rule' before she understands the deeper relational issues beneath the financial ones.
This married couple worked together in business, traveled together in ministry, and even risked their lives together for Paul. Scripture shows them as a unified financial and ministry team with zero hint of separate accounts or control struggles—complete partnership, complete blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that sharing finances equals danger. IT IS WRITTEN that two are better than one and have a good reward for their labor. God's design for marriage is partnership, not separation and suspicion. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, blessed coming in and going out. The BARAK blessing flows over covenant relationships where both people trust the Source of provision, not their own control. I am not cursed to repeat patterns of betrayal. God is preparing me for relationships built on His faithfulness, not human fear.
Your Father isn't preparing a future where you'll need separate accounts to feel safe. He's preparing your heart to trust Him so completely that sharing everything with a partner feels like freedom, not risk.
