"Jesus was poor, so if I follow Him, I should embrace poverty as godliness."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus had nowhere to lay His head, so shouldn't I be okay with barely getting by? If I want financial stability, am I more worldly than Jesus? Maybe struggling financially is what real faith looks like.
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."
-- 2 Corinthians 8:9Source: Religion misinterpreting Jesus's mission, ignoring that He had a treasurer (Judas) and was supported by wealthy women.
She reads about Jesus having no home and assumes that means poverty is the Christian ideal. She's been taught that suffering financially somehow makes you more spiritual.
Job lost everything—wealth, health, children. God didn't leave him in the ashes teaching him lessons. God restored him with DOUBLE what he lost—instant multiplication, not a slow rebuild.
I REFUSE the lie that poverty is godliness. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus became POOR so I might become RICH. He bore the curse of poverty at the cross—Deuteronomy 28:15-68 lists poverty as a CURSE, and Galatians 3:13 says Christ redeemed me from that curse. I am blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed and the BARAK rests on me by BLOOD, not behavior. I walk in Kingdom abundance because of WHO He is, not what I lack.
The Father didn't send Jesus to model poverty; He sent Him to PURCHASE your abundance. Right now, while you're reading this, He's not waiting for you to prove yourself—He's already calling you RICH in Him.
