"I've walked away from God too many times—this time He won't take me back."
How it sounds in your head: I've done this before. I've recommitted, fallen away, come back, fallen again. How many times can you go back to the same well? Even God's patience has limits. I used up my chances. Other people get restoration; I get what I deserve.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Source: Enemy lie that God operates on a 'three strikes' system, directly contradicting Jesus's teaching on unlimited forgiveness.
The pattern of return and relapse creates its own evidence that you're abusing grace. The shame of repetition feels qualitatively different from a first-time failure, like you've exhausted divine patience.
Israel fell into idolatry, cried out, and God raised up a judge to deliver them—over and over for 400 years. The cycle repeated dozens of times: sin, suffer, cry out, instant deliverance. God never said 'figure it out yourself this time.'
I REFUSE the lie that I've exhausted God's patience. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are new EVERY morning—not new until I fail again, but NEW regardless of yesterday's failure. Peter denied Jesus three times in one night and was restored by breakfast. Israel cycled through rebellion and restoration for 400 years and God kept delivering. IT IS WRITTEN in Matthew 18:22 that forgiveness isn't measured in human limits but in God's limitless nature. I am under the BARAK covenant that protected Abraham through repeated lies and Jacob through repeated deceptions. The Father runs toward me today the same as the first day—robe, ring, sandals, party.
The Father isn't keeping a scorecard of your returns—He's keeping the fattened calf ready because He's been preparing for this party since before you left. Every morning His mercy resets to full, regardless of how many mornings you've needed it.
