"I've been isolated so long, I wouldn't even know how to do real community anymore."
How it sounds in your head: You've been on the outside so long that even if opportunity came, you'd probably sabotage it. You're out of practice. You've forgotten how to be a good friend. The skills have atrophied and it's too late to learn now.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust."
-- Joel 2:25Enemy uses the length of isolation to convince you it's become your permanent identity rather than a temporary circumstance.
It's been months or years since you had consistent community. You've gotten used to being alone, making all decisions solo, having no one check in. The idea of navigating group dynamics or being vulnerable feels foreign now, like a language you used to speak but forgot.
Crippled son of Jonathan, hidden away in Lo Debar (meaning 'place of nothing') for YEARS, believing he'd never belong at the king's table because of his disability. One day David SOUGHT HIM OUT, restored all his grandfather's land, and gave him permanent place at the royal table—from forgotten exile to honored family, instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that isolation has become my permanent identity. IT IS WRITTEN that God RESTORES the years the locusts have eaten—not slowly, not partially, but COMPLETELY. Mephibosheth went from Lo Debar to the king's table in ONE DAY. The BARAK blessing that protected LIARS and DECEIVERS doesn't exclude me because I've been alone—it INCLUDES me because I'm in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus. The Father isn't punishing me for lost time; He's RUNNING toward me with DOUBLE restoration. I am not out of practice at connection; I am POSITIONED for divine appointments. Community isn't something I have to relearn—it's something the Father is BRINGING to me, fully formed, right now.
The Father doesn't see you as damaged goods needing extensive rehab before you're ready for community. He sees you as the prodigal coming over the hill, and He's already RUNNING with the robe, the ring, the sandals, and the PARTY—full restoration doesn't wait for you to prove you remember how to be a son.
